Building Research Competency K-12 Fall Workshop 2025

Online: Sat & Sun, Nov 15 & 16, 8:00am – 1:00PM
Participants will come to understand the overall PK-12 research process and organization, information tools, and evaluation of resources resulting in the completion of a culminating project. Attendees will gain the knowledge required to satisfy the DLCS PK-6 Research competency (SMK #5), or the 5-12 Research Competencies necessary for a DLCS practicum and/or Subarea 2 Digital Tools and Collaboration test. PK-6 teachers must attend all 10 hours in order to receive a Letter of Attestation stating that you’ve covered the SMK requirement.

Intro to Text-Based Programming for Educators

ONLINE: 10 Wednesdays 6-8PM January 13 – March 25 (No meeting during Feb Break)
This online course introduces text-based programming in Python to those who want to advance from a basic understanding of block-based coding. This course will be valuable for teachers who are preparing for the 5-12 DLCS MTEL test. Workload: 2 hours synchronous class + 1-2 hours of asynchronous work per week 1 (optional) hour office-hour each week Start date: January 13, 2026: virtual Wednesdays 6-8pm, office hours Sunday 7-8pm No Meeting during February Break
